Michael Van Wetterin Waller

Michael ("Mike") Waller passed away peacefully Friday, January 17, 2020, to be reunited with his wife Dorothy and to be with the Lord he loved.

Born September 25, 1926 in Columbus, OH, he was the youngest of Adolph and Marie Hertenstein Waller's three sons. He graduated from the Columbus Academy in 1944 and signed up for military service (Navy) the same day he graduated high school. He had completed training and was awaiting deployment when the war ended in 1945. Following discharge from the Navy, he returned to Oberlin College where he had spent a portion of his Navy training. At Oberlin, he met the love of his life Dorothy Louise Lyman of Middlefield, CT, and they were married June 30, 1951.

During the next 66 years Mike and Dorothy were richly blessed with three children, their spouses, eleven grandchildren, and one great grandchild. During their marriage, they moved wherever Mike's business required, from Ohio to Missouri, to Virginia and North Carolina, back to Ohio, and then back to Dorothy's original home in Middlefield, CT where Mike worked with his in-laws at the Lyman Farm for the remainder of his career.

Mike served on the Board of the Lyman Farm for many years, and also served on the Board of Selectmen for Middlefield. He was also active with the Middlesex (County) Chamber of Commerce, the Middlesex Community College, and the Middlefield Federated Church.

Mike was predeceased by his wife Dorothy, his parents Adolph and Marie, and his brothers Lynn and Edward. He is survived by daughter Andrea, her husband Kelly Kelleher and their three children Christopher, Deidre and Jason; son David, his wife Susan and their four children Henry, Peter, Ellen and Mark; and daughter Amy, her husband James ("Jay") Stoehr III and their four children James ("Jamie") IV (Emily), Sydney (Sam Whedon), Madeline (Nathan Osborn) and Gretchen; and by great grandson James V.
