Nancy "Nan" H. Bartheld passed away April 14, 2021, at home from natural causes at the age of 91. She was born October 6, 1929, in La Crosse, Wisconsin, the daughter of Walter R. Hanson and Ruth (Burmaster) Hanson. Nan graduated from Wisconsin State College of La Crosse in 1951 and married Robert G. Bartheld on June 6, 1953. Committed to strengthening her community and supporting her children, she volunteered for organizations such as scouts, libraries, schools and church. With her husband, she was a member of the Mt. Washington Presbyterian Church for 64 years. She said that she felt closest to God in a garden, and it showed. She tended flowers with great joy, and also delighted in crafting. Was there ever not a handmade wreath on the front door? The dementia that robbed her of many meaningful years also seemed to sharpen her lifelong love of chocolate. Her family and friends will remember her strong character, generous spirit and hearty laugh. And sweet tooth. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Ruthmae Weisensel (Charles). Surviving, in addition to her husband Robert (Bob) Bartheld, are her daughter Margo A. Bartheld and sons Brad Bartheld (Ann) and Eric Bartheld, grandchildren Matthew Bartheld (Katie) and Kristen Bartheld and sister Lucile Bibby (John). The family would also like to thank Tender Hearts at Home for their professional and kind care during these many months.
