Peter Lynch

Peter James Lynch (also known as "Jimmy Hogue" in his younger days) was brought into life on April 27, 1941, son to the late James Augustine Lynch and Mary Elizabeth Golden (Lynch) Hogue in Cincinnati, OH. He passed away on March 24, 2025 at the age of 83. Pete was a charmer, had a great sense of humor, and he loved his family, friends deeply and generously.

Pete was a devoted husband to Mary (Green) Lynch for 61 years. He was a loving father to four children: Karen Barras (Philip), Robin Geoppinger (Erich), Wayne Smith, and Thomas Grube (Patricia). Grandchildren brought joy to his life: Ryan Hein (engaged to Lora Fields), Victoria (Hein) Galley (Grant), Jordan Hein, Logan Geoppinger (Avery), Maelynn Geoppinger; Grace, Isabella, and Grant Grube. He had two great-grandchildren: Colt and Gunner Galley. He was a loving dog owner to Gus.

He is survived by his siblings Robert Hogue (Patricia), Maureen Thomas, sister-in-law Phyllis Slade, brother-in-law Larry McAfee, along with many nieces, nephews, family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Carole Anne McAfee and Albert Hogue; and grandchildren Joshua Hein and Miranda Lynch.

Pete graduated from Madeira High School. His service to the United States Navy spanned 6 years from 1958 to 1964 including active duty and reserves. In 1963 he earned an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering. In 1979, at the age of 38, he earned his Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Cincinnati. A year later, he earned a Certificate of Registration which authorized him to practice as a professional engineer. For 36 years, Pete worked as a chemical engineer for Factory Mutual Engineering (1966-2002), during that time he was recognized for significant contributions in the fire insurance industry.

Pete enjoyed an array of activities and pastimes. He played softball and was an avid bowler and golfer. In retirement he became a highly praised cook. He intelligently applied his engineering skills to cooking, earning him the nickname "grill master" for his infamous burgers. Pete enjoyed playing chess with his grandchildren and there were many family Euchre nights. His yard is full of bird feeders emphasizing his appreciation for birds and nature. He was a skilled photographer and computer enthusiast (beginning with his first computer, a TRS80, nicknamed Sarah). Pete could often be found sitting at the kitchen table reading a book and watching tv. Many memorable vacations were spent in Myrtle Beach. Pete will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

Memorial service will be held at T.P. White & Sons Funeral Home, 2050 Beechmont Ave., Mt. Washington, on Monday, March 31st at 2 p.m. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday from 12 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Yellow Ribbon Support Center, 4326 Mt. Carmel Tobasco Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45244.
