Rene Hesson Abel entered the world on December 20, 1936. In Shreveport, LA. She was born to the late Earl Reynolds and Alice Beatrice Smith as one of four siblings, Abdullah, Gloria and Linda. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. She was the loving mother of four children, Perry (Ramona), Jerry (Barbara), Tammy (Eddie), and Ralph (Grace). A cherished grandmother to 11 grandchildren, and a proud great-grandmother. Rene’s warmth and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
After 50 beautiful years of marriage, Rene became a widow following the passing of her husband, Ralph Hesson. However, she was fortunate to find love again with Frank Abel, with whom she shared eight joyful years of marriage. During this time, she embraced Frank's adult children—Larry Kay (Meg), Penie Koch (Jim), and their families—extending her love and support to them as well.In her early career, Rene was a dedicated switchboard operator at Sample Department Store. She later trained in phlebotomy in Buffalo, NY, and spent many years providing nursing care at Delavan Skilled Nurses’ Facility, where she showed tremendous compassion in caring for the elderly.Rene had a passion for homemaking, making every holiday special for her family with her loving touch. She was an exceptional cook, and one of Frank’s favorite dishes was her homemade spaghetti and meatballs, which brought everyone together around the dinner table.In her spare time, Rene enjoyed dabbling in crafts, creating beautiful wreaths and flower arrangements that brightened the lives of her loved ones.Rene's legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to her family will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched. She leaves behind a family that will carry forward her spirit and cherished memories.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 3 at 3PM at T.P. White & Sons Funeral Home, 2050 Beechmont Ave., Mt. Washington. Friends may visit the funeral home from 2-3PM.
