Jones, The Rev Dr Larry Paul "LP" of Cincinnati, OH passed away peacefully at home on March 6, 2016 at the age of 63. LP is survived by a large and loving family. The beloved husband of The Rev. Dr. Nancy Turner Jones, he is also survived by his children Rachel Leland (husband Brian son Lucas)and ElizabethMcCostlin (husband Ryan son Jack), JD Guckenberger (wife Suzanne children Mary Grace and Andrew), Rob Guckenberger (wife Heidi children Parker and Tempie) and Julie Price (husband Jay children Henry and Edwin), andthe mother of Rachel and Elizabeth, Phyllis Jones. LP was a loving and devoted husband,father and grandfather. He will be deeply missed by all. LP was born in Paris, KY on December 24, 1952, the only child of the late John Paul and Bettie Jones. His parents taught him the value of hard work, a value he carried throughout his life. He was the second person in his extended family to complete college, graduating from the University of Kentucky.Feeling called by God into ministry, he attended Lexington Theological Seminary (Lexington, KY), where he obtained a Master of Divinity. LP experienced a thirst for knowledge throughout his life, and additionally attended Vanderbilt University, where he obtained an MA in philosophy and Ph.D. with a focus in the New Testament and Hebrew Bible. Following Gods call, he ministered at a number of churches throughout his career and for a time returned to his alma mater, Lexington Theological Seminary, to teach homiletics. Most recently, he served as Head of Staff at Mt. Washington Presbyterian Church. A memorial service will be held at Mt. Washington Presbyterian Church, 6474 Beechmont Ave, Cincinnati, OH on March 11, 2016 at 3:00pm. The service will be preceded by a fellowship gathering at the church that will begin at 1:00pm.
