Richard P. Honeck, Professor Emeritus at the University of Cincinnati - Department of Psychology, passed away Monday, August 8, in Anderson Township at the age of 82. Richard was a UC faculty member from 1969 until his retirement in 2005, a Fellow of the UC Graduate School, and became an international expert in cognitive psychology specializing in figurative language. His graduate students teach at leading national universities and manage research projects in the private sector, including IBM. Richard spent most of his childhood in Okauchee, Wisconsin, and graduated from Wauwautosa High School. He played pitcher and third base for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee baseball team. Later, he obtained a Doctorate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He continued to enjoy softball, bowling, and playing the piano in his later years.
He is survived by his wife Joan C. Honeck (nee Krauska); his son, Jon and daughter-in-law, Lynn; his grandchildren Sara and Ben; his sister, Sharon, and brother, Kevin. A private service will be held at the T.P. White & Sons Funeral Home in Mt. Washington.
