Richard "Dick" Montgomery Simpson, age 86 of Pierce Twp., passed away November 6, 2023. He was the beloved husband of 64 years to Dorothy "Dottie" Simpson (nee Lloyd), devoted father of Deborah (Philip) Lehman, Dana Harmon, and Heather (Scott) Abernethy, loving grandfather of Austin Harmon, Kyle Montgomery Lehman, Nick Lehman, Kelsey Lehman, Kylie Abernethy, and Julia Abernethy, and caring great-grandfather of Addie Harmon and James Montgomery Harmon.
Dick graduated from Baltimore City College High School in 1955 and Gettysburg College in 1959 where he was a chemistry major. While at Gettysburg College he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta and started the Gettysburg lacrosse program.. He was named an All-American in 1959 and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2013. After graduating he proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1959 to 1962. Dick then moved on to work for Rohm & Haas Chemical Manufacturing Company, where he worked for 37 years as both a sales person and supervisor.
Dick was always working to help others where he lived. He received the Distinguished Service Award from 2001 - 2010 and was named Kiwanian of the year in 2005. Dick tutored at middle schools in both North Carolina and Ohio. In 2018 he was awarded the Circle of Hope Award by Inter Parish Ministry which was his favorite charitable organization.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to either Hospice of Cincinnati
