Richard Thieken

Richard Thomas "Dick" Thieken, beloved husband of Ruth "Tudy" Ackermann Thieken for 69 years, died peacefully May 21, 2024 at the age of 89. Loving father of Lynn (Rich) Vettel, Nancy Garthaus (Bill Leonard), and Dan (Jody) Thieken. Cherished grandfather (Pops) of Charlie, Max, Chelsea, Ellie, Teddy, Sammy, Gus, Lily, Nick and Lizzie. Great grandfather of 12. He was the youngest of 8 children of the late Louis and Loretta Thieken. Richard was well respected in the fire protection sprinkler industry for over 42 years. He was on the Board of Directors of the NFSA (National Fire Sprinkler Association) for 16 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family in their backyard swimming pool and traveling the world. He was a longtime season ticket holder for the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals, and could always be found tailgating and grilling up a storm. He was an avid golfer and on the board of directors for years at the Terrace Park CC. We would like to thank Suncrest Hospice of Cincinnati and the Visiting Angels at the New England Club for their comfort and care at this difficult time. If desired, memorials may be directed to the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church on Friday, May 31st at 10 am. Family and friends may visit at the church on Friday from 9 to 10 am.
