Robert L. Emery, Jr., 92, of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 2, 2024. He was born on September 22, 1931 in Charleston, WV to Robert and Nan Emery. After graduating high school, he met and married Nancy Carlson in 1954. During this time, he served in the Air Force during the Korean War. Bob and Nancy celebrated 69 years of marriage this past June.
He is survived by his children, Doug Emery, Dayle (Fred) Baxter and Jim (Duchess) Emery. He was a loving grandfather to Tom (Jamie) Baxter, Jen (Travis) Kidman, Sara (Brent) Heider, Lisa (Brian) Birkel, and Samantha Emery; great-grandfather to Ellie Baxter, Luke Baxter, Rylie Kidman, Drew Kidman, Ava Baxter, Ayden Heider, Eva Heider, Alayna Birkel, and Owen Birkel. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy and grandson, Zach Emery and daughters- in- law Margo Emery and Tess Emery.
Bob worked in sales for Union Chain for over 20 years. He was an active member of St. Timothys Episcopal Church where he served in several capacities. He was an avid golfer, a competent do it yourselfer and a ferocious reader. Bob enjoyed yard work and his friends and neighbors and enjoyed all of their pets. He especially loved times with extended family, visiting them in his home state, Massachusetts, including Boston and Nantucket and many visits to Laurel Lake in New Hampshire. Summers in Emerald Isle NC were shared with neighbors, dear friends and family and he loved swimming in the ocean. He had a dry but ever active sense of humor and could readily laugh at himself, making him resilient with life circumstances.
His Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 14, 2024 at St. Timothys Episcopal Church, 8101 Beechmont Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45255. The service will be followed by deserts and coffee in the church foyer. All are welcome.
