With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Robert J. Mayne Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Bob, a native of Philadelphia, PA, was born on November 24, 1930, and preceded in death by his parents, John, Isabelle (nee Wright), and brother John. He departed peacefully among his family on September 28, 2023.
Bob is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Virginia Mayne (nee Rebmann), and their five children, Janet (Greg) Bamber, Bob (Terry) Mayne, Dave Mayne, Eileen Zude, and Tom (Carrie) Mayne. PopPop's spirit lives on in the hearts of his 16 grandchildren, Jason (Adrianne), Nicole (Dave), Allan (Toni), Jeff (Emily), Kevin (Megan), Scott, Crew, Carly (Daniel), Graham (Jessica), Andy (Rockelle), Amy, Brandon, Austin (Gretchen), Sam, Griffin, Allison and 13 great-grandchildren Carter, Westin, Grady, Laureli, Ethan, Drew, Savannah, Maddi, Belle, Hudson, Eleazar, Josiah, and Evangeline.
Beyond the love of his family, Bob's life was marked by distinguished service to his country. He bravely served as an Army Sergeant during the Korean War, ensuring the soldiers at the front line were equipped with vital resources. His remarkable courage secured him the Bronze Star. In 1971, Bob and family moved from Philadelphia, PA, to Cincinnati, OH, where he was a resident until his passing.
Bob's legacy, marked by devotion, bravery, kindness, and unwavering love, will forever resonate in the hearts of those privileged to have known him. His absence will be keenly felt, but the inspiration from his life will comfort us and continue to kindle the spirit of resilience in future generations.
