Robert Earl Mayo, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on Sept. 19, 2014, aged 73, at Point Pleasant, Ohio. Robert was the beloved husband of Joan Catherine Mayo; devoted father of Cherry Mayo Goston and Robin Mayo Sanden; brother to Lloyd Mayo, Nancy Mayo Langford, Barbara Mayo and Sharin Mayo Pursley. Robert was born February 1, 1941, in Pontiac, Michigan. Robert proudly served in the United States Air Force for 23 years, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was a fighter pilot, instructor, officer, and the recipient of numerous aviation awards. He pursued his interest in aviation through leadership positions in companies such as Flight International (Virginia) and Executive Jet Management (Cincinnati). After retirement he continued in aviation as an auditor with Argus Company. He lived a full, generous, and active life; he was a true role model, a skilled woodworker, a world traveler; he was caring and devoted to his family and friends. Robert brought joy, inspiration and laughter to all who were fortunate enough to know him. Robert is survived by Joan, his dear wife of 48 wonderful years; daughters Cherry and Robin, who will miss him eternally; grandsons Lincoln, Harrison and Nathaniel, with whom he spent many treasured moments. A memorial service with US Air Force flag ceremony will be held at the Mayo home on October 2, 2014 at 3 pm.
