Robert (Bob) McDaniel of Amelia Ohio left this life on August 2, 2024. He was 89 years old. Bob was born May 15, 1935 in Maysville Kentucky to the late Mr. Doc Samual and Mrs. Nola McDaniel. He was the 3rd child of 6 siblings He was a graduate of Orangeburg high school and went on to be an entrepreneur as a Barber shop owner. Bob was kind and friendly. He never met a stranger. His personality was a perfect fit to be a Barber. He was a great listener and his customers easily shared their life stories with him while receiving a fantastic haircut. Bob went on to work for Johnson and Harden as a truck driver for many years before he retired to spend more time with his family.
He considered his most rewarding role in life to be a loving husband to Ida and Dad to Michael and Patrick. He was a caring brother, Dad, Papaw, Uncle and friend to many. Bob took great care of Ida and loved her dearly. He was friendly and funny too. Always making a joke or approaching strangers to chat and after only minutes they became instant friends. He enjoyed traveling and socializing with lifelong friends over the years. Bob was also a man of God. He was truly faithful and enjoyed singing in the church choir for many years. His beautiful voice was a gift to so many as he shared it every week in church. Bob knew that laughter was an important part of life and he spread joy wherever he went.
Bob is survived by his wife of 69 years, Ida McDaniel, loving father of Michael McDaniel and Patrick (Lisa) McDaniel. Devoted Papaw of Tyler and Ian McDaniel. He is survived by his sister Sue Merritt of Anderson. He is preceded in death by siblings Sam McDaniel, James McDaniel, Eudell McDaniel, and Ruth Baxter, as well as mother and father in law -Mr. Thomas Pollitt and Mrs. Beatrice Pollitt.
Providing kindness, laughter and an example of what it looks like to live with strong faith made Bob a good man. He valued friends and family over everything else in life. He will be truly missed.
A funeral service will be held at Clough United Methodist Church on Saturday, August 10 at 11:30AM. Friends may visit the church from 10:30-11:30AM. Burial following service at Pierce Twp. Cemetery.
