Roy Schweitzer

November 13, 1931 — October 3, 2015

Schweitzer, Roy B. was born on November 13, 1931 and died on October 3, 2015 at the age of 83 years. He began his career as a plasterer, a craft he learned from his father, who had learned that craft from his own father. Working twelve hour days, seven days a week, he formed a construction company with his brother Ronald, and then began a career that included single-family homes, heavy and highway construction, landfills, recycling companies, coal mining, and commercial real estate. He worked not for the love of money, but for the challenge and passion that work provided. He cared deeply for his family, friends, employees, and business associates. His final words were that hed like to return as an eagle and watch over us all. Roy was the son of the late Erwin Schweitzer and Delores Allen, stepson of Idella Schweitzer, and brother of the late Geneva McIntyre. He is survived by his brother Ronald and family, his beloved wife Kathleen (nee Dalton), and his four cherished sons and spouses: Stephen Schweitzer (Meg), Michael Schweitzer, Roy Schweitzer (Tina), and Craig Schweitzer; his grandchildren, Michaela, Adam, William, David, Max, Christopher, Ian, Brandon; great-grandchildren Blake and Emma; and stepchildren, Brandi and Ross Robertson, Ryan Hoskins, and grandchild Joshua. Visitation at T P WHITE & SONS Funeral Home 2050 Beechmont Ave. Mt. Washington on Fri. Oct. 9, from 12:30-1:30 PM. Followed by a Graveside Service at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Montgomery, on Fri. at 2 PM. Roy served his country in the US Army during the Korean War.
