Ruth Gorby

Gorby, Ruth (Bossick), age 95, died Saturday, May 24, 2014 at home. She was the wife of the late Thomas W. Gorby, beloved mother of Thomas W. and Marianne Gorby, and dear grandmother of William T., Matthew D., and Elizabeth G. Gorby. She was a resident of Bridgeport, Ohio for 38 years and most recently Cincinnati, Ohio with her daughter, Marianne. Ruth was born in Sturgeon, PA on May 30, 1918, the third of fourteen Bossick children. Survived by 6 siblings; Berniece Gilmore, Jerry Jackson, Bert Rensi, Tom Bossick, Janet Dunaway, and Barbara Bossick. Preceded in death by 7 siblings; Kay Dailey, Virginia Smith, Jack Bossick, Bob Bossick, Lorraine Bossick, Betty Jane Bossick, and Jackie Tabacchi. She graduated from Smithfield, Ohio High School in 1936 and West Liberty State College, School of Dental Hygiene, in 1950. Her working career was spent in healthcare ranging from assisting a rural doctor in the 1940 s to dental hygienist at The Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling, W.VA, where she retired in 1985. She enjoyed her retirement years visiting with her sisters and traveling. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 209 Cross St., Hopedale, OH 43976 on Fri. May 30, at 11 AM. Friends may visit at the Church on Fri. from 10-11 AM. Interment in the West Alexander Cemetery, West Alexander, PA on Sat. at 11 AM.
