Sandra Joy Luckett

Sandra (Sandy) Joy Luckett (nee Hovey) , aged 80, passed away on Monday, February 3 at Mercy Hospital, Anderson Township.

Sandra was born June 17, 1944 in East Cleveland, Ohio to Harold and Mildred Hovey (nee Blaise). She was a 1962 graduate of St. Mary's High School in Michigan City, Indiana. After high school, Sandra moved to Chicago, Illinois where she completed secretarial school. While working for a large insurance broker in the city, she met and married the late Ronald E. Luckett in 1969. After living in Wilmette, Illinois for several years, the couple moved to Anderson Township in Cincinnati, OH, where Sandra resided until her death. In more recent years, she devoted her time to working at a local florist, and most recently Catherine's Cottage, where she made many friends. She also enjoyed doing volunteer work in her community.

Sandra had a kind and loving nature, a wonderful sense of fun, and a strength of spirit. She was loved by many for the friendly and caring attitude she exhibited toward everyone she met, with a ready smile and genuine concern for friends and strangers alike. The listening ear, prayers and encouragement that she gave so freely to those around her will be sorely missed.

Sandra is survived by four step-children (Allen, Kathryn, Michael and Paula), four grandchildren (Lauren, Renee, Alison, Christina) and five great-grandchildren (Benjamin, Leland, Emilia, Louise, Alexander), to whom she was affectionately known as Gigi. Her beloved, sister, Gail Smith, predeceased her in 2020.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 10, at 10:30 a.m. at Guardian Angels Church in Mt. Washington. A public viewing will begin at 9:30 a.m. and precede the funeral. Donations in Sandra's honor may be made to City Gospel Mission, Cincinnati, Ohio (link HERE).
