Terence Charles Ruf, a lifelong Cincinnatian, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on August 25, 1933, he was the beloved son of the late Mary C. Ruf (Smith) and Julias J. Ruf. He is survived by his cherished sister, Bonita L. Booth (Ruf) and brother John (Jack) R. Ruf.
Terence, fondly also known as Terry, Charlie or Rufie, was preceded in death by his loving wife, Diane L. Ruf (Gillham). He was a devoted father to Robin L. DeVido (Ruf) and a proud father-in-law to Daniel R. DeVido. Terry's legacy lives on through his adored grandchildren, Alexander D. DeVido and Elizabeth A. DeVido, who brought immense joy to his life.
A proud graduate of Purcell High School, Terry furthered his education by attending classes at the University of Cincinnati. His career journey began at a young age, working in an ice cream soda shop, and culminated in a long and successful tenure in engineering sales at General Electric (GE).
In retirement, Terry embraced life fully. He refereed high school soccer games, traveled, and enjoyed countless rounds of golf and bridge. His love for family was paramount, and he always made them his top priority. Terry found joy in life's simple pleasures, and he was renowned for his "world-famous" chili.
Funeral arrangements are being handled with care, and in lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Hospice of Cincinnati, an organization that provided compassionate care to both Terry and Diane in their final days.
Terry will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his vibrant spirit, and his friendships to many. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
