Terry Michael Merrill of Anderson Township passed away peacefully on September 3, 2021. Terry was a devoted husband of 54 years to JoAnn (nee Belmont), loving father to Carla (Mark) Kapostasy, Gina (Jimmy) Serger, fabulous grandfather to Alexis, Allison, and Nick, dear brother to Judy (Bill) Mack, Eddie and Rick (Connie) Merrill, and fun uncle to many nieces and nephews. Terry touched many, many lives and will be greatly missed by his family, friends, co-workers, and business associates.
Terry graduated from Purcell High School where he earned a football scholarship to the University of Cincinnati. Upon graduation, Terry married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life. Soon after, Terry's lifetime patriotic sense of duty, and love for his country led him to join the United States Army, where he proudly served.
Following military service, Terry began his extraordinarily successful business career. He achieved his goal to become president of a major company by the age of 40, but his ultimate goal was to be the fantastic and amazing husband, father, and grandfather that he was.
Terry traveled the world on business, made friends everywhere he went, and always brought back unique and very special gifts for his family. Terry also enjoyed traveling with his family and they will forever cherish the many memories including: The Changing of the Keys in London, the Heineken brewery tour in Amsterdam, the Road to Hana in Maui, and whitewater rafting down the Colorado River.
Terry was a sports enthusiast, lover of fine wine and fast cars, and a collector of suits, ties, and crazy sweaters. Terry never went anywhere without a pocketknife and a handkerchief, except perhaps when doing his daily workout routine at Mercy Healthplex or Crunch.
Terry was a supreme optimist, and always provided hope, a big smile, and a helping hand when needed. He lit up a room with his sense of humor which knew no bounds. He always had a positive story, and made a person feel important no matter who they were. Terry would make you feel special and heard.
In spite of a busy work schedule he found time to volunteer with several local organizations; however, his ultimate priority was his family. He was always there for them. They could count on him for advice, unconditional love, stock tips, and his world-famous Papa Burgers!
Terry was a wonderful role model to all who knew him and was devoted to God, his family, and his country.
With his many marvelous qualities, his one shortcoming just might have been his sense of direction. Whenever he would get lost driving he would insist he was not lost because he knew the territory "like the back of his hand." We hope by now he knows Heaven "like the back of his hand."
Visitation and Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 7820 Beechmont Ave., Anderson Twp. on Friday, September 10th. Visitation for family and friends will begin at 9 am and the funeral mass will begin at 10 am.
