Theodore A. Rohling (Ted), age 82 of Cincinnati, passed away Saturday, October 14, after a courageous battle with Parkinsons. He is preceded in death by his son Thomas, and survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Ann and children Andrew, Carol, and Mary Kay. Ted was the proud grandfather of seven with a great-grandchild on the way. An Eagle Scout before graduating from University of Dayton with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Ted served briefly in the U.S. Army before a long career with first, Allis Chalmers in Milwaukee, and then Siemens in Cincinnati.
Anyone who met Ted met a loyal friend for life. Never one to sit still, Ted was the consummate tinkerer and DIY handyman. He loved to spend time in the yard, in the house or wherever he could find a project. Ted was a prolific volunteer within the community. Habitat for Humanity building homes, Hoxsworth Blood Center transporting blood and Mercy Hospital Anderson where he cuddled babies and worked at the information desk, are but a few of the organizations where Ted generously spent countless days and hours.
Most of all, Ted was devoted to his faith and his family. Always available in moments notice to watch the Grandkids, fix problems in homes, cars or farms, Ted was happiest being just useful wherever he was needed. Ted never missed the opportunity to hug his wife, say a kind word, or have dessert.
Ted Rohling was a wonderful man, who led a wonderful life. If only we could all be so lucky.
