Thomas E. Kellison

May 13, 1933 — September 7, 2021

Thomas E. Kellison, a retired Cincinnati police officer, was 88 when he passed away on Sept. 7, 2021. Tom was born in Lafayette, IN on May 13, 1933 to John and Genevieve "Jean" Kellison. The family moved to Cincinnati in the early 1940s. While attending Pharmacy College at the University of Cincinnati, Tom enlisted in the Navy to serve as a corpsman in the Korean War. He was assigned to the 5th Marine regiment in Korea, and considered himself a Marine thereafter. He even wore a Marine veteran hat when he had the privilege of attending an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. After returning home from Korea, Tom began his career with the Cincinnati Police Department. He was very proud to work alongside so many professional officers. His favorite assignment was working the motorcycle division and directing traffic at 6th and Race Streets downtown. Another of his favorite duties was working security during the Reds and Bengals games at Riverfront Stadium. After retirement, Tom became involved with the Cincinnati Police Museum, and his love of dogs (especially his St. Bernard, Bruno) inspired him get involved with the Ohio Police Dog Memorial. Tom is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patricia (nee Rodgers) Kellison, his three surviving brothers, Bob (Sue) Kellison, Jerry (Steve) Kellison, and John (Peggy) Kellison, along with his daughter Deane Kellison, and many nieces and nephews and their families. Preceding him in death was his brother, Jim Kellison, sisters-in-law Rose Marie Kellison and Louise Kellison, and infant sister, Mary. One of the things on Tom's bucket list was to drive his Corvette along historic Route 66. So, to honor Tom, we ask that you raise a bottle of your favorite beer in toast (in a bottle, never a glass!), and make sure you take that next adventure. Please join us for Tom's visitation on September 20th at St. Cecilia Church (3105 Madison Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45209) beginning at 10:00 AM with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 AM (including F.O.P.
