Walter Schott

Schott, Walter E., Jr. died peacefully on August 9, at the age of 92. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Peggy (nee Henkel), loving Father of Sue (James) Newman, Jo (Perry) Butler of San Francisco, CA, Nellie (Michael) Schweer, Meg (Jeff) Stevenson of Boulder, CO, Dr. "Trey" Walter E. (Elaine) Schott, III of Versailles, KY, Dr. Louis J. (Jennifer) Schott, and Drs. Harold C. (Annette) Schott of Bath, MI. Cherished Grandfather of twenty one and Great-grandfather of eleven. Born March 8, 1924 in Cincinnati, Mr. Schott attended the Summit Country Day School, later enrolled in the Kentucky Military Institute where he graduated as a 2nd Lt. U.S. Army in 1941. He attended the University of Cincinnati until he was called to active duty in the U.S. Infantry. Later he was transferred to the Engineering Division of the U.S. Air Corps where he served until he was Honorably Discharged as a Captain in 1946 at the end of World War II. Walter started in business as an automobile dealer acquiring Pontiac, Ford, and Chevrolet dealerships as well as other family ventures. He was a builder with a positive attitude that led him into many fields of construction and manufacturing. He was awarded the contract to build the flood wall around Lunken Airport which resulted in developing the Four Seasons Marina. His company later constructed runway No. 14 at the CVG International Airport. He held a commercial jet pilot rating and flew his own DH125 jet. In addition to serving on many Boards, he was a member of the Knights of Malta and an active member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish. He was loved and admired by all who knew him and "his greatest gift to his Family was the Spiritual Faith he instilled in them," said his son, Louis. He will be greatly missed by all. Visitation will be at 9:30 AM, Saturday, August 13 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 7820 Beechmont Avenue, 45255, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Interment at Gate of Heaven.
