William Glen Durst, Jr., went home to be with his Savior Jesus Christ on January 27, 2021 at the age of 76 years surrounded by his loving family. Glen was born on February 5, 1944 to Rev. William Glen Durst, Sr. and Eva Fay (Shrewsbury) Durst. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister Sandra, grandparents Rev. Dorsel & Pearl Durst and Frank & Leona Shrewsbury. Glen was a graduate of Nitro High School in Charleston, West Virginia, class of 1962.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Alma (Bragg) Durst, brother Thomas Durst and sister Gail Hartman. Glen was blessed with three wonderful children: daughter Glenda (Dave) Shoemaker, son David (Jill) Durst, daughter Deanna Osborne. He adored his grandchildren: Brittany (Chuck), Tony (Jessica), Zachary (Stephanie), Chelsea (Bryan), Kaitlin, Austin (Grace), Rachel, Jacob, Levi, Mathew, Dylan, Madison, Braxton, Sophia, Noah and Henry. Great grandchildren are Kylie, Ava, Lily, Bryan, Penelope, Tatum and Moira-Jack (expected February 2021).
Other dear family includes Eric (Kim) Kaminsky who he loved like a son, aunt Rose, cousins, nieces, nephews, brothers-in law and sisters-in law, dear friend Doug Batt who he loved like a son, and a loving church family who have been so supportive over the years.
Glen was a gifted musician, having played saxophone with two Christian quartet groups; was a private pilot who loved flying in the skies above; he also enjoyed riding his motorcycles over the years and took up vegetable gardening after retiring. He was an entrepreneur, having founded several construction businesses. He built homes as well as numerous public and private commercial projects. He most enjoyed building churches and felt this was his ministry. This gave him a great sense of joy and fulfillment.
Services are scheduled for Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at The Tree of Life Church on Cooper Road, Cincinnati, Ohio with Pastor Joel Urshan and Pastor Charles Tierney officiating. Visitation begins at 10:00 am with the funeral immediately following at 11:00 am. Burial will be at Arlington Memorial Gardens, Mt. Healthy, in the Garden of The Last Supper.
