Obituary for Daniel D. List

List, Daniel Doemling, beloved son, husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2016 surrounded by family. Dan was born on February 9, 1937 in Cincinnati, OH to John Argus and Dorothy (nee Doemling) List who preceded him in death. Along with his parents, he also spent much of his childhood with his Aunt Kay (Katherine Stutter Pence) and Uncle Joe Stutter. Dan was a strong caring father and husband focusing much of his life on raising his children to be loving and successful in their own lives. He also found much joy and pride in the many accomplishment of his grandchildren. In addition to his family, Dan spent much of his time involved in a long standing love affair with trains. He dedicated countless hours to building his personal railroad sanctuary in his backyard with both his garden railway as well as his riding trains, much of it with the help of his wife Joyce and his grandson Daniel. He and Joyce also enjoyed traveling throughout North America and Europe on rail journeys visiting majestic landscapes. Dan shared his passion for trains with many friends at the Garden Railway Association and Cinder Sniffers. Dan is survived by his loving family, wife Joyce (nee Vordenberg) as well as his children and their spouses: Christine List and Jerry Houren, Theresa and Michael Reis, John and Betsy List, Mary Clermont, Amy and Damon Johnston, Dorothy and Steve Barrett, Edward and Stephanie List, Patrick and Amanda List. He is also survived by his many grandchildren and great grandchildren: Payton, Nora, Grace, Caitlin, Leah, Jennifer, Sarah, Daniel, Corey, Ryan, Nicole, James, Matthew, Gregory, Brian, Michael, Brea and Emma. Mass of Christian Burial at St. John Fisher Church 3227 Church St., Cincinnati, OH (Newtown), on Sat. Nov. 26, at 10 AM. Friends may visit at the Church on Sat. from 9-10 AM.
